Meet The Characters of the Riverpeak Heroes Series

Meet The Characters of the Riverpeak Heroes Series

Back before Not My Time came out, I did a short introduction of the characters of the first book – but I wanted to reintroduce them, plus add the characters from the rest of the series!

So, without further ado, here’s the main cast of the Riverpeak Heroes series in a nutshell. All illustrations were made in ArtBreeder.

Rory Miller

Rory (28, she/her) is the protagonist of Not My Time, the first book in the Riverpeak Heroes series. Rory is a social studies teacher at Riverpeak High School. She struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder after being stalked by a classmate when she went to the University of Colorado – Denver, approximately eight years prior to the events of the first novel.

Kane Kelly

Kane (28, he/him) is Rory’s love interest and is better known as the vigilante superhero Hematite. When someone tries to kill Kane, his cells regenerate and bring him back to life, so he uses his power to help clean up the crime in Riverpeak as he tries to uncover the source of his power. As his day job, Kane teaches English at Riverpeak High School. He hides his nighttime patrols as Hematite by putting on the facade of a carefree party boy. He has a younger sister, Kayla, who is in her senior year at the University of Colorado – Denver.

Elijah Baron

A portrait of Elijah Baron, the protagonist of To Be Normal: Riverpeak Heroes 2. Elijah has dark red curly hair, green eyes, and lightly tanned white skin.

Elijah Baron (28, he/him) is Hematite’s tech support in the Riverpeak Heroes series. He serves as Hematite’s sidekick in Not My Time, and is the protagonist and love interest of the second novel, To Be Normal. He works in tech for a managed services provider and his family is the only Jewish one in town until Hannah moves to Riverpeak.

When he was in high school, the vigilante superhero Hematite approached Elijah asking for help. The two made an arrangement: no questions asked in exchange for protection.

Hannah Cohen

A portrait of Hannah Cohen, the protagonist of To Be Normal: Riverpeak Heroes 2. Hannah is a white woman with shoulder-length dyed blonde hair and brown eyes.

Hannah Cohen (27, she/her) is the protagonist of To Be Normal. Hannah works two jobs: she’s both a popular fantasy author and a video game streamer. She moves to Riverpeak hoping to escape her troubled past and beat writer’s block. There, she meets Elijah, who discovers she has superpowers.

Naomi Sato

Naomi Sato (28, she/her) is Rory’s best friend and a reporter for Channel 10, the local news station in Riverpeak, CO. Naomi hopes that in catching Stone Breaker, someone will talk about what really happened at the restaurant when her brother died, suspecting that the town’s secrets are all interwoven. She is engaged to Brad Evans.

Brad Evans

Brad Evans (28, he/him) is a supporting character in the Riverpeak Heroes series, debuting in Not My Time. He is Elijah Baron’s roommate for the first half of the series. Brad and Naomi Sato have been in a relationship since their time at Riverpeak Elementary School, starting as schoolyard crushes until blossoming into a serious adult relationship. Brad works at the Riverpeak Veterinary Clinic and, throughout the events of Not My Time, is clueless about what his friends are up to.

Shawn Jameson

Shawn Jameson (29, he/him) is a supporting character in Not My Time. Like Hematite, Shawn also has superpowers of his own and accompanies Hematite under the self-appointed moniker of Brick Beast. As Brick Beast, Shawn helps Hematite track criminal activity in Riverpeak. He works in sales and is in an on-again-off-again relationship with Amy Brewer.

Amy Brewer

Amy Brewer (28, she/her) is the protagonist of Play With Fire. Her family owns and operates the Riverpeak Theater, where she works. After her last breakup with Shawn, she’s determined to get revenge, and hopes Noah can help her achieve it.

Noah Sato

Noah Sato (32, he/him) is Naomi’s brother, previously believed to be dead, and the love interest of Play With Fire. After a series of experiments, Noah now has fire manipulation powers. He works for Sterling Harrison. As a result of his experiments, one of his arms is completely burned. His other arm was tattooed by Jolene Gautier.

Sterling Harrison

Sterling Harrison (32, he/him) is the love interest in Etched In Ink. He’s the leader of the crime ring responsible for the drugs circulating around Riverpeak that gave Hematite his superpowers. Sterling inherited the position from his late father and is seeking immortality so he doesn’t meet the same fate as his dad. As a child, he took piano lessons, which is how he initially met Jolene Gautier.

Jolene Gautier

Jolene Gautier (28, she/her) is a local tattoo artist in Riverpeak and the protagonist of Etched In Ink. After obtaining superpowers without realizing it, Jolene seeks out help and finds Sterling, her childhood crush, answers the call. Jolene has an older brother named Chad. She works alongside fellow tattoo artist Stella and has an apprentice, Annie.
