Creating mood boards for my main characters totally helps me capture their vibe as I work on my novels. For my debut Novel, Not My Time – an action-packed superhero romance novel from the point-of-view of the love interest – I created some mood boards for the main characters and their best friends/sidekicks in the series. Rory Miller
A high school history teacher struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder. A coffee addict who unintentionally dresses like Indiana Jones and is obsessed with the town’s masked vigilante. She’s attentive, underestimated, curious, intellectual, and – as a result of survival mode/trauma response – adaptable.
Kane Kelly
High school English teacher by day, masked vigilante hero by night. He has been secretly in love with Rory for the last 8 years. He’s just, loyal, willful, jaded, and protective (especially over Rory and his younger sister Kayla). Chaotic good on an alignment chart.
Naomi Sato
A reporter just trying to bring some integrity back into her industry. She wants to dive into her family secrets as soon as she’s done planning her upcoming wedding. Naomi is Rory’s best friend and is always eager to get to the bottom of a story – in and outside of work.
Elijah Baron
Kane’s trusted right-hand man behind the scenes (and screen) since high school. He has the power of God and anime on his side. Will remotely Rick Roll you if you steal his beanie.
